May 18, 2008 - Our club families donated a variety of slightly used
soccer gear which was sent to needy children in Ecuador. Items
included cleats, balls, short, socks, shirt, shin guards and goalkeeper
gloves. 175 items were sent to Ecuador. Thank you to everyone
for your generosity.

May 10, 2008- The first phase of the electrical service project is
complete. We now have pavilion lighting, security lighting, and outlet
power for other uses. An additional small pavilion will be built near
the electrical service building. Future plans under consideration include
field lighting and irrigation. Thanks to David Gebhart for managing
this project.

May 9, 2008- Allegheny Power's Latrobe Service Center donated $300 to the
club for general use purposes. Thanks to Keith Kemerer for organizing
this donation with Allegheny Power

May 8, 2008 - Scalise Construction donates four truck loads of high
quality topsoil for overdressing the fields this spring and summer.

April 13, 2008- Sweatshirt sales raised $292 for the
club operations. Thank-you Jackie Pimpinella for your hard work.

March 10, 2008 - Three teams from Loyalhanna United competed in the
Latrobe Ice Breaker Tournament. The U14 boys played in a very competitive
bracket against two teams that ultimately met in the finals. The players
were; Jake Reed, Dan Kubus, Brett Baughman, Luke Gaten, Nick Shannon, and
David Halula. The 6th grade Loyalhanna girls' team (Emma Kate Womack,
Rae Reed, Allison LaDuke, Taley Dunaway, Sarah Kemerer, Nichole Sullivan,
Alexa Venneri) played strong against older teams. After getting rid of
their nerves in a close game against Somerset, they easily beat the Latrobe
Jr. High team. In their final game the girls were down 1-6 against
Hempfield and battled back with 3 more goals only to run out of time before
they were able to equalize the game. The 7th grade Loyalhanna
girls' team (April Krivoniak, Mary Frances Fratto, Hanna Green, Gina Rock,
Taylor Swezey, Marissa Duval) won their bracket with a win against Mt.
Pleasant and McKeesport. In their 3rd game they tied the LUP&R team 1-1.
After beating Somerset in the semi-finals they fell in a close match versus
Hempfield to exit the tournament as runner up.

Feb 20, 2008 - Underground electricity service is being installed at the
soccer park this winter. We are planning on having electricity and
lights at the pavilion by April 1, 2008.

Feb 20, 2008- The club applied for the US Soccer Foundation 24/7 all
conditions grant in 2007. Although our application received serious
consideration, in the end we were not selected to receive the grant.

Feb 17, 2008 - Our U11 girls attended the Shoot To Score 4 v 4 tournament
at the University of Pittsburgh. The tournament was very competitive.
The players were; Courtney Clark, Ava Petrosky, Stephanie Kubus, Brooke
Baughman and Claudia Torillo. After getting used to the format, the
team won their 1st game. With only 5 minutes left in the last game,
the team was tied 1-1 with a strong team from Erie, PA. Exhaustion
took over and the girls conceded the winning goal to their opponent. The
tournament was a good experience for all players and supporters

Nov 26, 2007 - Three teams competed in the Penn Hills tournament this
past weekend. Two out of three teams earned a spot in the finals.
U12 Girls won their bracket with a 3-0 record. The girls ended up losing in
sudden death overtime in the semifinals and took 3rd place in the
tournament. The U14 boys made it through their bracket, won the
semifinal and took the 2nd place trophy after exhausting all their energy.

Nov 21, 2007 - Interest in soccer continues to grow in our region and
with the club. 113 players are registered for indoor soccer training
for the first winter session. The club rents space from the Greensburg
Racquet Club and Bishop Connare Center for skills training. The
following age groups are playing, U6/U8 Coed, U10 Coed, U12 Coed, U13/U14
Girls, High School Girls, U14/U16 Boys. Many teams will also be
attending tournaments this winter in Western Pennsylvania.

Nov 11, 2007- The Club purchased an industrial aerator (48" wide) to
further improve the fields for future seasons. The fields have been
treated and aerated for the winter.

Sept 25, 2007 - Lauren Cassler has become the all time leading goal
scorer at Laurel Valley High School. She surpassed Kelly Morrisey who
also played spring soccer with our club. Congratulations to Lauren!

Aug 18, 2007 - Over 60 golfers attended our 2nd annual golf outing at
Champion Lakes. The golf outing raised $3,331 for the club. A big thanks go out to all the golfers, sponsors and

Aug. 16, 2007 - 30 young players from Loyalhanna United participate in
the PA West / US Soccer national coaching program at Pitt Greensburg.
The participants had an opportunity to play for many different coaches from
around the country.

July 29, 2007 - Five teams competed in the Kick It 3v3 tournament this
past weekend. Four out of five teams earned a spot in the finals.
U10 Girls played a five game 1st round and exited on the short end of a
three team tie breaker. The U11 and U12 girls played each other in the
final with the U12 girls taking the 1st place medal. The U12 boys left
everything they had on the field with three out of five players injured by
the end of the final game. The U12 boys earned the 2nd place medal.
The U10 boys had a strong run through the tournament and took the 1st place

July 28, 2007 - 101 players attended camp this past week. An
excellent time was had by all. Camp photos added to
"Camp" section of website.

June 29, 2007 - U17 girls attended the NOSO Cup in Cleveland, OH.
The team faced one team from Rochester, NY and two teams from Ohio.
Being a competitive tournament the girls left exhausted with a greater
appreciation for the potential to improve as a player and teammate.

June 23, 2007- Summer Soccer Bash was a great success and raised over
$1,000 for the American Liver Foundation.

June 23, 2007- U19 Boys earn two wins and a tie in the PA West Open in
Edinboro. The boys finished tied for 1st place in the preliminary round with
a 0-0 score against a team from Hanover, PA. Our team did not move on to the
semifinal because Hanover had a better goal differential. Great job
boys and better luck next time!

treatment of our soccer fields. Look for thicker, greener, weed free
playing surfaces soon.

April 23, 2007 - Club purchased a "DR Power Grader" to smooth out the
access road to our fields. This equipment helps minimize rain water
damage to the roads and the field parking lot.

March 19, 2007- The "TANK" field mower has been paid off. The club
purchased this equipment using a 36 month no interest payment plan from Club
Cadet.

March 6, 2007 - Ten travel teams are declared in the PA West East
District for the spring season. As soon as the weather permits, we
will begin practices. Our 1st game is April 1, 2007. Schedules
will be available after March 19, 2007

March 4, 2007 - U12 Girls (6th graders from Latrobe) played in the
Latrobe Ice Breaker Tournament. This was a Jr. High event against 7th and
8th grade players from Southmoreland, Hempfield, Mt. Pleasant, and Latrobe.
The girls had a good experience, played against the eventually finalists and
came in 5th place. Keep up the good work.

March 3, 2007- U14 boys (7th and 8th graders from Latrobe) played in the
Latrobe Ice Breaker Tournament.

Jan 7, 2007 - Two U12 Girls teams participated in the University of
Pittsburgh Shoot to Score Tournament on 1/6/07. One of our teams made it
through group play after winning their bracket. The team of Hanna Green,
April Krivoniak, Mary Frances Fratto, Taylor Swezey and Kate Rellick took
2nd place out of 7 teams from the Pittsburgh area including the winning team
from Erie, PA. A well played afternoon of soccer!

Nov 26, 2006- The U14 boys played an excellent tournament
this weekend. The boys earned their way into the semi-finals of the
Penn Hills Autumn Ambush tournament. In the last game, a strong team from
Southmoreland beat the Loyalhanna United team by a score of 2-1.

Nov 16, 2006 - Congratulations Tierney Guarascio, Vincenza
Pimpinella, Alyse Puskar and the GCC High School girls soccer team for being
the state runner up in the PIAA tournament in Hershey this month.

Nov 5, 2006 - U12 Girls were defeated by Monroeville
Mavericks in the 1st game of the Leggett Cup. Better luck next year.

Nov 2, 2006- Ligonier High School girls team played an
outstanding game against #1 ranked Bishop McCort on Monday October 30th.
Bishop McCort scored the lone goal with six minutes left to play in the game.
Congratulations to the Ligonier girls for a great season. See you in
the Spring 07.

Oct 22, 2006- Good luck in the playoffs to Ligonier High
School girls, Greensburg Central Catholic High School girls and Greensburg
Central Catholic boys. Loyalhanna United players play a role in each
schools' goal to win a state championship.

Aug 11, 2006- Our youth camp was a blast. The kids were
spoiled with excellent weather, freeze pops and fun soccer games.

Aug 7, 2006 - Dick's Sporting Goods will donate equipment to
our youth teams for practices and games. We are very thankful for the

July 31, 2006 -Our first annual golf outing held at Champion
Lakes Golf Club was and excellent event. Everyone enjoyed
themselves and the club raised $3,784 to support our youth program and

July 13, 2006- We endure additional vandalism at the soccer
park. Between 7/9/06 and 7/13/06, trespassers damaged 2 practice
goals, turned over our portable toilet and destroyed field signs.
Incident Number A1-1488689 was filed with the state police on 7/13/06.
Anyone who has information on trespassers performing this criminal mischief

May 17, 2006-Congratulations to Dominic Pimpinella and Tim Wood for being
selected on the PA-West Olympic Development team. Dominic will play

May 14, 2006- Southern Living at Home fundraiser yielded $1,000 for the

Nov 27, 2005 - Congratulations to Ryan Edwards and the Messiah College
soccer team. The team repeated as NCAA Div III National Champions.
Messiah beat Plattsburg State 4-0 in the semi-finals and were crowned as
champions in a 1-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus from St. Peter, Minnesota.
As well as scoring the 4th goal in the game against Plattsburg State, Ryan
Edwards scored the game winning goal in the 69th minute of the finals in
Greensboro, NC. Messiah College wins it's 2nd straight national

Nov 20, 2005 - Congratulations Vincenza Pimpinella and the Greensburg
Central Catholic girls soccer team. The team finished the 2005 season
as a finalist in the PIAA-AA tournament. After being ahead 1-0 at
halftime, GCC lost to Villa Joseph Marie 4-2 at Hershey Park Stadium on
Saturday 11-19-05.


Nov 6, 2005-The
PAWest East District Leggett Cup Tournament was hosted at the Loyalhanna
Soccer Park. The top four U14/U15 boys teams were chosen from the 13 teams
who played in the Fall 2005 season. In the first round Pittsburgh Dynamo
Desperadoes defeated Penn Trafford Rebels in penalty kicks after 2 overtime
periods. Loyalhanna United defeated Tri-City Soccer Association by a score
of 3-1. Goal scorers for Loyalhanna United were Zachry Earhart, Dominic
Pimpinella (assisted by Daniel Szekley) and Mike Harr. The final game was
played after a short rain delay between the Desperadoes and Loyalhanna
United. After the 1st half, Loyalhanna United was ahead 1-0 on a
goal from Brian Gongaware. Early in the 2nd half, Dynamo
equalized the score. 1 minute before the final whistle, Loyalhanna United
scored on a long shot by Rooney Columbus. With 10 seconds left in the game,
a Dynamo goal sent the game into overtime. After 2 minutes in sudden death
overtime, Anthony Tavella slotted a pass behind the Dynamo defense to
Dominic Pimpinella who scored the winning goal. Goalkeeper for Loyalhanna
United was Andrew Barnhart.
Nov 5, 2005- Congratulations to Vincenza Pimpinella and her Greensburg
Central Catholic teammates for winning the AA WPIAL tournament. Good Luck in
the PIAA Tournament!

1, 2005- Several U19 girls have been selected to play in the Tourney Sport
USA Hawaii Girls Soccer Classic in July 2006. Kassie Enos, Rachel
Blistan, Laura Kennedy, Alex Grab, Rebecca Sharbaugh, and Lauren Cassler
were selected from a national pool of soccer players. Selections were
based on soccer ability, academics, community service and coaches
recommendations. The tournament recognizes outstanding 10th and 11th
grade girls from all over the USA. The girls will have an opportunity
to play soccer in Hawaii, learn about the culture and see the sights.
Good job ladies and enjoy your trip!

Oct 14, 2005 - Loyalhanna United sweatshirt sales contribute $319 to club
operating expenses. Thank you for all who purchased a sweatshirt and
Jackie Pimpinella for organizing the sweatshirt program.
August 18, 2005 - US Youth Soccer held a national coaching program at the
University of Pittsburgh -Greensburg campus. Coaches from two
countries and six states attended the program along with Vince Pimpinella
from Loyalhanna United. Many of these coaches presently serve on the
Olympic Development Program staff in the states of NY, PA, VA, TX, NC
and IN. Loyalhanna United players had an opportunity to play for these
talented coaches. Our players enjoyed themselves and were able to
impress the coaches with their soccer playing abilities. Well done!

July 16, 2005 - Over 40 players participated in the Westmoreland Soccer Camp
in July. It was an enjoyable time for all those who participated.
Everyone played hard and improved their technical and tactical understanding
of the game. New friends shared time together including two campers from

June 17, 2005 - Twenty-three young soccer players attended soccer camp at
the Loyalhanna Soccer Park this week. It was a blast! Visit the

June 7, 2005 - Congratulations to all Loyalhanna United players who
participated in the PA West State Cup. The State Cup is the highest
level of soccer competition in Western Pennsylvania. Bree Piper,
Maura Bainbridge, Carly Klasnic, and Elizabeth Harkins played with the
Foothills U14 Girls Classic team in the final four weekend. Hilary
Bastin played for Penns Forest U13 Girls team that lost a tough match during
the finals against Beadling. Vincenza Pimpinella and Penns Forest's
U15 Girls team earned their 2nd State Championship. Dominic Pimpinella
and Daniel Szekely played for the U12 Penns Forest Boys team that beat a
Beadling team that entered the State Cup with a record of 16-0-0.
Vincenza, Dominic, and Daniel will represent their age group for our state
association at the USYS Region 1 tournament in Virginia Beach, VA on June
31-July 5. Well done!

May 2, 2005 - Southern Living At Home fundraiser was a great
success. Thanks to all who participated. $2,000 was
raised for club investment at the Soccer Park. A special thanks goes

Aug 22, 2004 - Opening day was a blast. Over 130 players and 200
fans attended our soccer festival and had the opportunity to enjoy a great
day at the Loyalhanna Soccer Park. With our ribbon cutting ceremony,
the Park is officially a part of Pennsylvania soccer history.

- Thank You to all volunteers who
participated in the work day at the soccer park on Aug. 14. At one
point we had 70 people at the fields removing rocks, weeding the parking
lot, installing signs, assembling goals, and grading the access road
banks. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
June 28, 2004 - U14 Girls made it to the quarter
finals at the Chevy Open Division B tournament. The girls finished
with a record of 2-1-1. Good job!
June 12, 2004- Loyalhanna United girls played in the
warm up game for the Steel City Sparks at Plum Mustang Stadium before
their WPSL game against Massachusetts.

their Soccer All-Stars. Brett was also named to the 2003 WPIAL A
All-Stars. This is the highest honor a soccer player can receive in
the area.

Girls U12 team participated in the University of Pittsburgh Shoot to Score
4 vs. 4 tournament. The team members included Hillary Bastin, Laura
Shuhart, Hannah Meyer, Olivia Seecof, and Emma Straight.

Congratulations to members of the U12 Boys' team for winning the University
of Pittsburgh Shoot To Score 4 vs. 4 tournament. The team of Tim Wood, Rooney Columbus, Doug
Johnson, Patrick Davoli, and Dominic Pimpinella took 1st place with a
record of 5-0.

Congratulations to members of the Loyalhanna United U8 team. The team of Emma Kate Womack, Anthony Guidera,
Eddie Kilkeary, Nicky Halula, Coby Green, and Daniel Staffen competed in
their 1st indoor tournament at the University of Pittsburgh. It was an
enjoyable experience for all and the team finished with a 1-2-1 record.

Congratulations to Coach Tom Kennedy and his Greensburg Central Catholic
team for a terrific run at the PIAA Class A state championship. The
team was only one game away from a trip to Hershey but fell to the state
runner up in a 1-0 overtime loss.

U14/U15 Girls participate in Faith in Action
program. The team help out an elderly person in Unity Township who
needed leaves raked before the winter and could not do it on her own.

Club honors volunteers at annual appreciation mixer. We appreciate
the continued support for our youth and adult club members
September 3, 2003 - Loyalhanna United now offers a fun developmental program for youth players
ages 5, 6, 7, and 8.
July 19, 2003- We
now offer small sided games for Under 9 and Under 7 players.
Practices and games will be held this fall at Baggaley Elementary soccer
field. For more information, download forms.
June 10, 2003 - Regular season is over. Make up
games planned for various June dates. Please coordinate referees with Don Edwards

Columbus, and Tim Wood who were selected for cup teams in the area. Good work! We

January 27, 2003 - Annual club meeting held at Dino's.
Voted to keep existing officers and to amend the club articles of incorporation to extend
the term for officers from 1 year to 3 years.
January 10, 2003- Backpacks,
logo wear, and warm up suits are available for the spring 2003 season.
January 8, 2003 -Congratulations U12 Boys team on a
successful 1st indoor season at Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena (Harmarville, PA).
You had a strong performance with a record of 8-3-1. You looked great winning your
last 4 games and we look forward to watching you play in the 2nd session beginning on 12
January 2002!
