US Futsal State Cup 2003
December 2003
Members of Loyalhanna United Soccer Club recently competed on select soccer teams in the Western PA Futsal State Cup held at the Monroeville Sports Center. Tim Wood and Dominic Pimpinella played for the Barbarians under 12- boys' team that took 1st place. Hilary Bastin played for the Penns Forest under -12 girls' team that took 1st place. Vincenza Pimpinella was a member of the Barbarians' Under 14 girls' squad that finished runner up. The teams qualified for the U.S. Futsal Region 1 Championship, to be held Feb 14-16 in Boston. Teams from PA, MD, NY, NJ, RI, VA, DE, MA, NH, VT, and ME will be competing to represent the region in the national championship in Anaheim, CA in July. Congratulations to Tim, Dominic, Hilary and Vincenza.

University of Pittsburgh - Shoot To Score Tournament

Competition was strong in this tournament. The team finished in 1st place with a record of 5-0. The boys won 4 out of 5 games by only one goal. Teams from Sewickley (2 teams), Seneca Valley, Peters Township, and Belle Vernon had the opportunity to enjoy a day of soccer at the first class Charles Cost indoor facility at the University of Pittsburgh.

Faith in Action - Leaf Raking Day.
The U15 and U14 girls helped out in the local community by raking leaves at
an elderly person's home in Unity Township. The girls had a great time
and helped out a neighbor. 58 large township bags were collected.
The event provided as much fitness as a good soccer practice. Thanks
to all who participated.

Loyalhanna United's under-10 soccer team was undefeated this fall playing in PA West Soccer Association's East Division 2. Members of the first Loyalhanna United under-10 team to earn promotion to Division 1 are (front) Stevie Huston, Lexie Pelchen, Claire Gongaware, Jessica Vittone, (middle) Nick Tarsi, Denny O'Brien, Rylan Smith, Tyler Hillman, (back) coach Bob Hillman, David Halula, Phil Croker, coach Bobby Stano, Derek Hall, Nick Stano, Coach Robert Stano.

The girls competed in the 2003 Chevy Open. The team played 5 games in 2 days. They won their division, moved through the semi-finals with a goal in sudden death overtime, and recorded their only loss of 0-1 in the finals. Great Work!

January 8, 2003 -Congratulations U12 Boys team on a successful 1st indoor season at Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena (Harmarville, PA). You had a strong performance with a record of 8-3-1. You looked great winning your last 4 games and we look forward to watching you play in the 2nd session beginning on 12 January 2003!
